2023 SEASON

Welcome to Grand Ledge Area Youth Football & Cheer!

GLAYF & GLAYC is a completely volunteer ran organization.   All parents are expected to volunteer to keep the program operating. 
Volunteer opportunities include but are not limited to:

• Concessions - for both the GLAYF/GLAYC program and the middle school Football program. A sign up Genius will be available once schedules are available.
• Chain gang - (3 individuals per home game)
• Field setup before game - (1st team of day:  flag, trash bags, pop-can collectors, field markers, goal post cushions, concession stand setup, chain gang equipment, bathroom setup, etc)
• Field clean-up after game -  (Last team of day:  flag, trash bags, pop-can collectors, field markers, goal post cushions, concession stand clean-up, field clean-up both visitor and home, chain gang equipment, bathroom clean-up, etc)
• Team parent - One or Two individuals selected my the coach to help with communications and needs of the team

Prior to season you must obtain a physical and bring it to the 1st night of practice. You will not be able to practice without this. 

There will be an equipment hand out date prior to season. Dates and times TBD.

First Week of Practice (called conditioning)
Aug 7th - 1st day of 2023 season for football
    6:00-8:00pm Mon-Thur for the first week.
5:30 Monday Registration will open. 

What should your child wear? 
Helmet
Mouth Guard
T-shirt and shorts
Cleats
And bring lots of water!!!!!!

Monday Aug 7th -  Arrive early to turn in (2)  COMPLETED, REQUIRED FORMS: Registration opens at 5:30.
 (1) MHSAA Physical Form  - This form must be signed by a health care provider as well as a parent/guardian AND the participant.  A current-year physical is one given on or after April 15th of the      current year. 
 (2) Concussion Form - please print this off, complete with signatures and bring the 1st night of practice

 5:30 - sign in will start with practice starting promptly at 6:00
Please bring all necessary forms at this time. Your child will not be able to participate if they do not have these.

           Practice  is  6:00 - 8:00pm
   Mon - Thur. for the 1st week
   If enough athletes register for 2 Teams we will work on dividing them up after toward the end of the 1st week.

Practice after the 1st Week: 
- Athletes  will now wear all equipment if they have completed the first 8 hour of practice the prior week.  Coaches will provide more information during the 1st  week.
- Practice will be 4 days a week until season starts then it will be 3 days
- Practice times are set my the coach and therefore are not always know until we know what team your child will be on after the 1st week.

Games are on Saturdays.
 - Home Games are played at Marsh Field
 - Away games are hosted by other local schools. These locations can be found under the Field Locations tab here but always refer to the information given by your coach as changes happen.

The 1st Saturday for games is usually the first weekend after Labor Day for our League (MMPFL). Again this is open to change and your coach will provide exact dates once received from the      league.
**GLAYF does not set the schedule.  
                             

·   Homecoming Parade - GLAYF and GLAYC has participated in the homecoming parade and plans to continue this.

Homecoming for 2023 will be Friday Sept 22nd. More information will be provided by your coach at a later date. 

Parent meeting will take place the 1st week of practice - time TBD.
