COVID 19 Q/A and Information

GLAYF recognizes there is concern for student athletes during the COVID 19 Pandemic.  As an organization, we are having frequent discussions regarding the safety of our athletes, coaches, and fans.

First and foremost, if the current or future climate dictates we end our season, we will do so.  We are following guidance from MHSAA, MMPFL, and our own community.  We recognize the fluidity of the day to day direction and are making every effort to be responsive to it.

Coaches will be trained to follow the guidelines as outlined by the organizations above as we receive it.

While we do not have a complete list, here are some of the guidelines we know of so far:

IF YOU HAVE A PHYSICAL FROM LAST YEAR with MHSAA on the header you do NOT NEED a new one.  If you are new to the program, you will be required to provide a new physical.  You MUST have last years physical to turn in or you will need a new one.

All players and coaches will have their temperatures checked prior to every practice, game, or event.
All players and coaches will be asked a series of questions prior to every practice, game, or event.
GLAYF is purchasing temperature guns for each football and cheer team.

Shared equipment such as balls, tackle dummies, blocking shields, etc will be sanitized with a special solution provided by BioChem which has been approved and recommended by the CDC.  Each team will be provided with sanitizers that will be required use for all participants.

Spectators will be limited.  The allowed numbers may change as the climate changes; however, at this moment, only 250 people will be allowed in the field area at a time.  We will have volunteers counting people entering and exiting to adhere to these rules.

Spectators will be required to adhere to the guidelines presented as the enter the field.  These guidelines will be visible as you enter the facility.  failure to follow these guidelines will result in removal from the facility.  There will be no discussions, debates, or excuses.  The guidelines set out will be for the benefit of our youth athletes.  Their safety comes first.  For us to provide the opportunity to participate in the sports they love, EVERYONE must be on board.

We will have very specific instructions for GAME DAY.  Games will be spread out so we have time to clear the field, sanitize the facility, and prepare for the next game.  We have plans in place for this which will be published once they are finalized.  Please return to our website to download a map of the facility with instructions for dropping of your athlete prior to events and how to enter the facility.

If we are not able to start the season, a full refund will be provided.  If we are shut down during the season, a partial refund will be provided if we are shut down early on.  We understand the uncertainty in this challenging time and will work with our members.  In the event football is moved to the spring, spring sports will move summer.  If this happens, members will be given the option for a refund, or to simply carry their registration forward.

This page will change as we organize more information.
